Woodstock is a town in northeastern Connecticut. The area of the town was one of the "praying towns" established around the 1650's by John Eliot, where Native American Indians would come to be converted to Christianity and renounce their culture. The town was officially established in 1686 as New Roxbury.

Woodstock in People's Lives

Jedidiah Morse: I was born here in 1761, the son of a deacon. My family came from distinguished New England ancestry. I grew up as an intelligent, studious boy, and left to enter Yale University in 1778 at the age of 17.
