Witney is a town in Oxfordshire, England, on the River Windrush, 12 miles west of Oxford. It was first mentioned in history in 969 as Wyttannige. The name was changed to Witenie around 1086.

Today, Witney is known for its charming small-countryside-town feel, historic churches and graveyards, and for its production of woolen blankets - a trade it has been notable for since the Middle Ages.
