Windhoek is the capital and largest city in Namibia, in southwestern Africa. It is located centrally in the country on a plateau high above sea level.

The city of today began in 1840, but the land has been inhabited since ancient times.

Today, Windhoek is known for its surrounding deserts, wildlife, culture, modern buildings, slums, and numerous landmarks and recognizable buildings.
