City Hall PA
Washington is a town in southwestern Pennsylvania, part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.

French fishermen and trappers made temporary camps here from about 1757, acknowledging it as Wissameking, meaning "catfish place" in the Native American dialect. Prior to French settlement, the land was part of the territory of the Delaware Indians. Later, the name was changed to "Catfish Camp," and then to Washington in honor of George Washington in 1781.

Today, Washington is known for its university, fine architecture, and history.
