Victoria is the capital and largest city of the island of Gozo in Malta, located in the north of the country. It was formerly named Rabat, but the name was changed in order to avoid confusion with the city of Rabat, Malta. Its new name was chosen in honor of the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887.

There is evidence that it has been settled since the Bronze Age, dating back to approximately 1500 BC. It was later inhabited by the Phoenicians, and then the Romans.

Today, Victoria is known for its sprawling size, citadel, history, historic ruins, basilica, villas, and array of churches.
