Manoir de Savigny
Valognes is a small town in the Normandy region of northwestern France. It lies on the Merderet River and has a population of approximately 7800 people.

It began as a Roman stronghold around the year 400 AD. Before the French Revolution, it was mainly a country community of aristocratic villas and luxurious estates. Many of these still survive as hotels.

William the Conqueror: While visiting cities in my duchy of Normandy in 1046, at attempt was made by rebels to sieze and assassinate me here. Fortunately, I had already recieved word of the plot, and managed to escape under the cover of darkness. I was eighteen years old at the time.
