Vallejo is the largest city in Solano County in central California, located on San Pablo Bay. It is the 10th largest city in the San Francisco Bay Area.

It was first settled in 1843, and named in honor of Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo. The neighboring town of Benicia is named for his wife. The city was capital of California twice, briefly in 1852 and 1853.
