The University of Glasgow is the fourth oldest universities in the English-speaking world, and one of Scotland's four ancient universities. Located in Glasgow, Scotland, it is often ranked among the world's top 100 universities. It reached its peak in 2013, placing as 51st in the world and 9th in the United Kingdom.
It was founded in 1451 by charter of Pope Nicholas V, at the encouragement of King James II.
