Ulm is a city in the state of Baden-Wurttemburg in southern Germany, located on the River Danube. It was founded in 850 AD.

Today, the city is known for its European architecture, cathedral, waterfront, university, and for having the church with the highest steeple in the world.

Ulm in People's Lives

Napoleon Bonaparte: I commanded and won the Battle of Ulm here in 1805, fighting Austrian forces and their commander Karl Mack von Leiberich. The battle, and surrounding events, were considered one of my best strategic victories. The enemy forces surrendered, and mercifully allowed Leiberich to return to Austria, even granting him back his sword and personal belongings.
