Stirling is a town in central Scotland, located close to the mouth of the River Forth and historically nicknamed "Gateway to the Highlands." 

Originally a Stone Age settlement, the area was also a Roman town around 50 AD. A castle was built here around the 5th Century. Stirling Castle, one of the most famous castles in Scotland, was built beginning in the 12th Century.

Today, Stirling is known for its history, castle, cathedral, downtown area, education, and culture.
