Southampton is the largest city in the county of Hampshire in southern England, a major port city. The city's name is often abbreviated to So'ton.

It was established in 70 AD by Roman patrician settlers as a fortress.

Today, Southampton is known for its history with the Titanic, its maritime industry, sea port, as a location for the largest cruise ships in the world, and for its industrial atmosphere.

Javier Hernandez: I played a futball game here in 2010, playing for Manchester against Southampton's own team. I scored the winning goal in our 2-1 victory.

Mary Todd Lincoln: I traveled to Europe with my son Tad in 1868, and our ship first landed here. This was the very first European city that I set foot in. We stayed for a week before departing for Germany.
