Sorrento is a town in the region of Campania on the southwestern coastline of Italy, on the Mediterranean Sea close to Naples and Capri. Mount Vesuvius can be seen off the shoreline of the city.  

It began as a Greek colony, dating back to approximately 600 BC. It later fell to the Romans, who named is Surrentum.

Today, Sorrento is known for its beautiful beaches, architecture, integration of buildings into the town's hillside, history, cliffs, lemons, and culture.
