Santa Paula is a town in Ventura County in southern California, located in the Santa Clara Valley and nicknamed the "Citrus Capital of the World."
The area was originally inhabited by the Chumash Native American Indians, and was first explored by the Europeans in 1769, my the Spanish. The town was established in 1843 as a Mexican farm.
Today, Santa Paula is best known for its citrus farms, but also for its flower cultivation, general agriculture, and pictaresque valley scenery.
