Downtown RO
Royal Oak is a town in southeastern Michigan, considered a suburb of Detroit. It was once located on the Red Run River, but it is now completely underground.

It was established in 1891, though the area was explored and given its name in 1819, after a surveying expedition led by Lewis Cass. An enormous oak tree that Cass found prompted him to name the land "Royal Oak."

Today, Royal Oak is known for its thriving downtown area, shops, theater, restaurants, and nightlife.
