Resistencia is a city in northern Argentina. It is the capitol and largest city in the Argentine state of Chaco. It is the eleventh-largest metropolitan area in the country.
The city was established in 1865 - a date long delayed by the local native tribe's resistance to outsiders - and within 13 years, in 1878, it was named the territorial capitol.
Today, Resistencia is known for its parks, riverfront views, frequent lightning storms, and as one of the hottest and most humid cities in Argentina.
