Regensburg is a city in the state of Bavaria in southeastern Germany, at the meeting point of the Danube and Regen Rivers and east of the Bavarian Forest.

It was named Radasbona under the Celts, and was taken over as a Roman fort in 90 AD. Largely due to its castle, it was a prominent German city during the Middle Ages.

Today, Regensburg is known for its medieval history, its castle and Roman ruins, its riverfront district, and typically German, colorful houses.
