Providence is the capital and largest city of the state of Rhode Island, and is the third-largest city in New England after Boston and Worcester. It is the 38th largest metropolitan area in the United States. It is located at the mouth of the Providence River, at the head of Narragansett Bay, 50 miles south of Boston

It was founded by Roger Williams, a religious exile from the Massachusetts Bay Colony, in 1636. He named it as a tribute to "God's providence."

Today, Providence is known as the location of the Ivy League Brown University, for its skyline, downtown area, events, city lights, charming New England atmosphere, quality of life, and business.
