Plaza de Armas in Piura
Piura is a city in northwestern Peru in the western Andes Mountains.

It was inhabited by the Incas until the arrival of the Spanish in 1532, at which time Francisco Pizarro founded the city as "San Miguel de Piura," the first city in Peru.

Today, Piura is known for being its country's oldest city, for its downtown area, architecture, and tropical climate.
