Pao Pao, sometimes spelled as one word, is the largest city in French Polynesia, though it only has a population of 4300 people.

French Polynesia was one of the first places on earth to be settled by humans, and the history of this location stretches far back into prehistoric times. Colonists from Asia arrived around the Middle Ages, or possibly earlier. The first European contact was when James Cook landed on the island in the 1760's.

Today, Pao Pao is known for its beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters, resorts, as a vacation destination, its quiet island life, history, and beauty.
