Nottingham is a city in the East Midlands of central northeastern England, and the 9th largest urban area in the United Kingdom.
It was first settled in 867 by the Vikings, though it had belonged to the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Mercia prior to that.
Nottingham is the 6th most visited tourist destination in England. Much of its reputation is due to it being the origin of the Robin Hood legend. The city is also known for its architecture, spanning many time periods, and lace-making.
