Nijmegen is a city in the eastern Netherlands, close to the border of Germany.

It is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, established as a military fort by the Romans in the 1st Century BC. Nijmegen is today known for its historic Roman ruins, its river views, its warm climate, and as the location of an international walking and fair event that draws the largest crowds of any annual event held in the Netherlands.
