Nice in People's Lives

Magnus Carlsen: I traveled here in 2008 to compete in the Melody Amber Chess Tournament, which was being held in this city for the first time. It was my second year competing in the elite tournament. An improvement from last year's shared eighth place, I won a shared second place in the overall tournament.

Mary Todd Lincoln: I visited this city in 1868.

Napoleon Bonaparte: I spent time temporarily living here in 1794. There were rumors that I was placed under house arrest here in July of 1794, after the fall of the Robespierre brothers - with whom I was a friend. However, most sources discredit this rumor as entirely false.

Viktoria Tolstoy: I performed a concert here in 2012.

Walt Disney: After a dock strike occurred directly before my ship was scheduled to take me back to America, I took trains from Marseille to this city frequently, in August of 1919. I spent my time sketching the beautiful scenery.
