Newcastle upon Tyne, sometimes called simply Newcastle, is a city in northeast England on the banks of the River Tyne.

The city was founded in the 2nd Century A.D. by Hadrian, then a Roman fort called Pons Aelius.

Today, the city is known for its iconic bridges and waterfront views.
