Mossman is a small town in the state of Queensland in northeastern Australia, located on the Mossman River 47 miles north of Cairns and surrounded by jungle.
The town was founded with the opening of its post office in 1895. It was first called "Hartsville," but the name was later changed to Mossman.
Today, the town is known for its surrounding jungle, Mossman Gorge, its river, historic buildings and homes, sporting events and clubs, and sugar cane plantations.
