Monroe is a town in northern Georgia, considered a suburb of the Atlanta metropolitan area.
It was founded in 1818 and officially made a town in 1821. During the 20th Century, it was one of the main centers of cotton production in Georgia.
Today, Monroe is known for its quaint downtown area and locally-owned shops and businesses.
