Mendoza is a city in central-northern Argentina. It was founded by Spanish conquistadors in 1561, and named after Garcia Hurtado de Mendoza, then the governor of Chile.

Today, Mendoza is known as Argentina's prime wine-country, but is also famous for its production of olive oil. Additionally, Mendoza is a well-known location for sports such as skiing, mountain climbing, horseback riding, and rafting, mostly thanks to the surrounding countryside and mountainous region.
