Lommedalen in People's Lives

Magnus Carlsen: I moved here as a child, in 1998, when I was 8 years old. By that time, I was already an enormously intelligent boy with an amazing memory and an awakening skill with chess. I began to participate in chess tournaments in 1999, at the age of 8. In 2000, I began studying with the best chess masters in the world, and my scores improved in leaps and bounds. I began playing in tournaments at a crazy pace, being in over 300 of them from 2000 - 2002, and winning quite a lot of awards.
