Herengracht (Leiden)
Leiden is a city in the province of South Holland in the southeastern Netherlands, on the banks of the Old Rhine. It is known as a university town, being the home of Leiden University and its prestigious medical school. It is twinned with Oxford and often called "the Oxford of the Netherlands."

It was founded as a stronghold around 860.

Today, Leiden is known for its riverfront layout, university and higher education, intellectuality, and medical system.
