Koblenz is a city in the Rhineland-Palatinate region of western Germany, at the joining of the Rhine and Moselle Rivers.

The area has been settled since 1000 BC, when the hilltops were made into fortresses. Julius Caesar and his troops built a bridge here in 50 BC, and Nero Claudius Drusus began a military post here in 9 BC.

Today, Koblenz is known for its riverfront, architecture, history, and castles.
