Kilkenny is a town in the province of Leinster in Ireland, situated on the banks of the River Nore.

It was founded in the 6th Century as a monastery town, but only recieved its town charter in 1207.

Today, it is known for its pictaresque charm, pretty downtown area and shops, history, beer brewing, arts, and culture.

Ralph Fiennes: My family moved here when I was 11, in 1973, and I went to school at St. Kieran's College. However, I only lived here for one year, moving to Waterford in 1974.
