Joinville is the largest city in the Santa Caterina state of southern Brazil. The city for having one of the highest standards of living in Latin America, and as a center for business and economy.

It was founded in 1851 by German, Swiss, and Norweigian immigrants, named after Francois d'Orleans, the prince of Joinville. Today, the city still has a large German population.
