Great Barrington is a town in southwestern Massachusetts. It was ranked #1 Small Town in America by the Smithsonian magazine in 2012. It is located 20 miles south of Pittsfield on the Houstatonic River.

The land was originally by the Mahican Native Americans, who called it "Mahaiwe," meaning, "the place downstream." It was settled in 1726 after the land was purchased from the Native Americans by a wealthy landowner.

Today, Great Barrington is known for its quaint downtown area, quality of life, vibrant autumn colors, and music and cultural events.
