Geelong is the second most-populated metropolitan area in the state of Victoria, located in southeastern Australia 47 miles southwest of Melbourne. It is situated between the Corio Bay and Barwan River. The city's name is taken from the Aboriginal word "jillong," meaning land or cliffs.

The first European contact was in 1838, and the town was established in 1840 with the construction of a post office.

Today, Geelong is known for its bay, waterfront, sports teams, and economy.
