Gavle is a town on the eastern coastline of Sweden, the 13th largest city in the country. It was first mentioned in history in 1413, but officially became a city in 1446, making it one of the oldest cities in the area.

Today, Gavle is principally known for its Christmas celebrations, particularly for its straw Gavle Goat, now an international symbol for the town. It is also known for its historical appeal, traditional old Swedish houses, and charming old town district.
