Fukuoka is a city in southern Japan and the 6th largest city in the country.

It was founded as a seaport town called Dazaifu in, or possibly before, 663, though the area has been inhabited since the Stone Age.

Today, Fukuoka is frequently ranked among one of the world's most livable cities, and has been highly praised for its blending of green spaces and bodies of water into its metropolitan downtown area.
