Pretty downtown Eureka Springs.jpg

Eureka Springs is a town in northwestern Arkansas, located in a valley in the Ozark Mountains. It is unique for its wealth of Victorian architecture and homes, and for its layout. The town is a cluster of winding, narrow streets, often on steep mountain inclines, with Victorian mansions, cottages, and villas built into the hillsides. Buildings are constructed to fit the curves of the land, and some even have street-level entrances on more than one floor. Many of the sidewalks contain steps and staircases. None of the streets meet at a 90 degree angle, and so there are no traffic lights in the town. Its individualistic attributes have earned it the nicknames of "Little Switzerland of America" and "The Stairstep Town."

Originally a place of healing and meditation for the Native American Indians, due to its natural spring, this land was once considered sacred by various tribes. In the mid 1800's, European settlers arrived and built a boutique spa town here, which almost immediately grew popular and wealthy.

Today, Eureka Springs is known for its unique charm, downtown area, town layout, Victorian architecture, large mansions, natural hot springs, vibrant autumn colors, integration with nature, Ozark mountain location, and beauty.
