Eu is a town in the Seine-Maritime department of Upper Normandy in northern France, on the coastline and close to the mouth of the Bresle River.

It was established in 996. Today, the town is best known for its castle, the elaborate Chateau d'Eu, built in 1578, and for its university.

Eu in People's Lives

Victoria, Queen of England: I traveled here with Albert to stay with my friend Louis Philippe I in the Chateau d'Eu twice, in 1843 and 1845. It was one of the few places that I ever traveled, and also made me the first British monarch to visit a French monarch since 1520.
