Eleusis is a town in southeastern Greece, about 11 miles northwest of Athens.
It was founded sometime before 1700 BC. Today, the town is known for its ancient ruins, excavation and archaeological sites, oil refining, and religious cultural history.

Roald Dahl: In February 1941, I had fully recovered from my plane crash and was declared fit to go back to flying. My squadron was now based in this town and was flying new Hawker Hurricane planes. After only seven hours of experience flying the new plane, I was assigned to fly over the Mediterranean.
