Dundonald is a town in County Down in Northern Ireland, located just a few miles east of Belfast and often considered a suburb of that city.
It was established at the top of a man-made hill as a Norman fortress in the 12th Century, called "Dun Donaill." The fort was one of the largest in Ireland. The modern town grew immensely when it was linked to the railroad in 1850.
Today, Dundonald is known for its cathedral, cemetary, proximity to Belfast, and large housing estates.
