The town was founded sometime in the early 500's AD. It is first referred to in history as the place where the Welsh Saint Teilo lived and planted fruit groves in 549.
Today, Dol de Bretagne is known for its small-town beauty, its cathedral, and for the groves of chestnut trees in the surrounding area.
