Danby is a small town in southern Vermont. The land sits on top of the largest marble quarry in the world.

It was established in the early to mid 18th Century and named after Danby, Yorkshire, England. Today, it is known for its marble, brilliant autumns, lakes and streams, natural beauty, and farmland.

Danby in People's Lives

Pearl S. Buck: I died here in 1973, of lung cancer. I was 80 years old, had written hundreds of books, and had won the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize for Literature. I was buried at my husband and I's historic farmhouse in Perkasie, Pennsylvania.
