Concord is the capital city of the state of New Hampshire in the northeastern United States, located on the Merrimack River.

Thousands of years prior to European colonization, it was inhabited by Abenaki Indians. Concord was first settled in 1725 by wealthy plantation owners from Massachusetts. It was originally called Rumford after Benjamin Thompson, Count Rumford. After land disputes and endless quarrels with the nearby town of Bow, "Rumford" was officially renamed Concord in 1765 by Governor Benning Wentworth, in hopes of inspiring concordance and peace between the two feuding towns.

Today, Concord is known for its New England appearance, riverside location, higher education, and beautiful autumn scenery.
