Casablance in People's Lives

Anthony of Padua: In 1222, at the age of 27, I set off from my humble mission in Coimbra to be a Franciscan missionary in Morocco. I was partially inspired to do so by the story of five Franciscan monks that had been beheaded in this land, the first of our order to be martyred. Filled with religious fervor and belief in my cause, I imagined myself converting infidels by the hundreds. However, these glorious visions were not to be. Before I could convert even a single soul, I fell gravely ill almost immediately after landing in this city. I was forced to purchase a return voyage to Portugal.

Jude Law: I traveled here in 2010 to film scenes of the movie Contagion
