Cairns in People's Lives

Isabel Lucas: My family moved here around 1995, when I was about 10 years old. I grew up here, in a multi-cultural household. My Swiss mother raised me speaking German, and I am thus fluent in both German and English. I attended the Catholic St. Monica's College for high school. I moved to Melbourne in 2003, at the age of 18, to attend the University of Melbourne. After achieving fame and success as an actress, I moved back here from Los Angeles years later, in 2011, relieved to once again have a quiet, more simplistic lifestyle. Here, living on a large piece of land, I enjoy hiking and the outdoors, and own quite a lot of animals - including birds, pigs, dogs, horses, and cats.

Jared Leto: I traveled here in 1997 to film scenes of the movie The Thin Red Line
