Brownsville is a partial ghost town in southwestern Pennsylvania, located 35 miles south of Pittsburgh.
It was established as a fort in the 1760's, and rose to modest prosperity as an industrial center. Around 2000, due to a drastic lessening in population, many buildings were boarded up, abandoned, or condemned.
Brownsville is now known for its empty, ghost-town feel, and its abandoned and ruined buildings.
