Brienz is a town in the canton of Bern in central Switzerland, located on the norther shores of Lake Brienz, for which it is named. It is also nestled beneath the Brienzer Rothorn Mountain.
It was first settled in the 5th Century BC by the Celts, and the area was conquered by the Romans in the late 1st Century BC.
Today, Brienz is known for its beauty, lakeside views, relaxing and quiet atmosphere, mountain, downtown area, history, and transportation - mainly in rail and boat.
