Bratislava is the capital and largest city in Slovakia, located in the southwest of the county on the Danube and Morava Rivers. Close to the borders of Austria and Hungary, it is one of the few capital cities so closely located to two other countries.

The area has been inhabited since approximately 5000 BC. It fell to Roman rule around the 1st Century AD, and was soon a major center of Roman winemaking. By the 9th Century, it was one of the most powerful Slavic cities, and by the 10th Century was the capital of the Kingdom of Hungary.

Today, Bratislava is renowned as one of the most beautiful Eastern European cities, known for its history, architecture, arts, museums, universities, and elegance.
