Baghdad is the capitol and largest city of Iraq, and the second largest city in the Arab world.

Known as a city with a wealth of old history, it was founded on the banks of the Tigris River in 762 by al-Mansur.

Agatha Christie: I visited this city numerous times in the 1930's, mainly on archaeological expeditions with my husband.

Milo VentimigliaI traveled here in 2008 with the United Service Organization, to visit with and support troops serving in Iraq. Since then, I have been active with the Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of American program, launched a national public service campaign on veteran's behalf, and created the website 

Roald Dahl: After completing my initial training flying for the Royal Air Force in Nairobi, I was thought a talented enough pilot to be sent for advanced training, and so I stayed on the outskirts of this city in 1940, aged 23. I was soon afterward promoted to leading aircraftsman. After training for six months flying a Hawker Hart, I was promoted again to acting pilot officer. I was assigned to the No. 80 Squadron RAF flying Gloster Gladiator planes.
