Baden-Baden is a spa town in the state of Baden-Wurttemberg in southwestern Germany close to the French border, in the Black Forest.

Though the exact dates and circumstances of its founding are not known, the natural springs were referenced by the Romans around 120 AD, and by 200 AD was a Roman bath town then called Aurelia Aquensis.

Today, Baden-Baden is known for its pictaresque beauty, relaxing spas, elegant hotels, luxurious resorts, history, Roman baths, health consciousness, and castle overlooking the town. It is sometimes compared to the English spa town of Bath.
