Auxerre is a city in the region of Burgundy in France, the 4th largest city in its region.

It was founded as a Roman town alongside one of the major Roman roads around the 1st Century AD, then named "Autissiodorum." A cathedral was built in the 5th Century.

Today, Auxerre is known for its well-preserved historic architecture, Burgundy wine, cathedral, medieval areas, cuisine, woodworking, and art.
